14 years ago today, Wario Ware, Inc.: Mega Microgame$ was released in North America for the Game Boy Advance.
The objective is to clear multiple stages by rushing through dozens of minigames, which last just a few seconds each. The minigames range from sports to silly to quick versions of popular NES classics.
This game would go on to evolve into a series, which would see entries for the Gamecube, Nintendo DS, Wii, and other platforms.
23 years ago today, Blockbuster Video launched sign-ups for its second World Video Game Championship.
There were competitions for the Super NES and SEGA Genesis platforms. On the Super NES side, the competition games were NBA Jam, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters, and Clay Fighter: Tournament Edition. On the Genesis side, NBA Jam, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and Virtua Racing were the competition games.
